Laugh Factory

3175 N. Broadway, Chicago, Il 60657

773 327-3175

Laughter has emanated from the corner of Belmont and Broadway for years—first in the form of the Lakeshore Theater. In March of 2012, venerable Los Angeles–based club the Laugh Factory opened a new chapter in the theater’s history, adding a wraparound balcony, table seating tended by servers, and a towering blue-magenta panel backing the stage, forming the stained-glass window behind the altar of this new church of comedy. The result, according to the Chicago Tribune, is “a club that feels fully focused on one thing—standing up.”

Kingston Mines

2548 N. Halstead St. Chicago 60614

Kingston Mines embodies Chicago's long and illustrious history with the Blues, so much so the venue earned the Chicago Music Award for Best Blues Club. They host live blues musicians seven nights a week a week, with artists such as The Kinseys or Carl Weathersby holding down the main stage while local Blues belle Joanna Connor plies her guitar on the north stage. The primary performance area looks like the back porch of a southern ranch home, with weathered siding and screened windows framing musical performances. While soaking in the Bluesy tunes, guests sate their hunger with blackened Louisiana catfish or classic barbecue from the in-house restaurant, Doc's Rib Joint
